Executive Biography
Marvin Butler is a seasoned financial executive, asset manager, and investment banker with over four decades of specialized experience spanning precious metals, derivatives trading, and alternative investments. As the Managing Partner of Credit Gold and Silver, LLC and the Gold Star Hedge Fund, he directs capital allocation and macro strategy across global markets.
His career began in 1984 in Boston, Massachusetts, working as a gold and silver options trader at the First Commodity Corporation. This foundational immersion in high-velocity commodities markets established his deep expertise in risk management, market psychology, and complex derivative structures. Capitalizing on this momentum, he transitioned to the West Coast to work as an investment banker for Osborne Stern & Co in Beverly Hills, California, where he focused on corporate finance and institutional capital positioning.
Following a successful five-year tenure in investment banking, he joined Merit Financial, where he served as a Senior Account Executive and Sales Manager until 2014. Over nearly two decades, he scaled high-performing financial sales teams, navigated multiple market cycles, and engineered bespoke portfolio strategies for high-net-worth clients.
In 2014, leveraging an extensive background in both tangible assets and capital markets, he founded Credit Gold and Silver, LLC. Under his executive leadership, the firm executed significant proprietary investments, including the strategic acquisition of the Great American Mint in Anaheim, California. Following a successful eventual divestment of the minting operations, Credit Gold and Silver has maintained its institutional footprint, continuing to operate as a premier, top-tier precious metals dealer.
Anticipating shifts in modern market liquidity, Credit Gold and Silver recently launched the Gold Star Hedge Fund — a sophisticated private equity vehicle targeting alpha across Foreign Currencies (Forex), Futures, Options, Cryptocurrencies, and Real Estate. Following the complete subscription of the flagship fund, he is currently spearheading the private placement rollout of Gold Star Hedge Fund II, offering a highly selective group of accredited investors access to the firm's diversified, high-leverage derivative and macro strategies.
